Noda family helps build new recital hall
In 2011, the curtain will rise on the UC Davis Music Performance Building and Recital Hall, thanks, in part, to the Nodas, a Davis family with a long history of serving the campus.
The hall, planned as a 400-seat facility acoustically tailored for vocal and ensemble performances, will be the primary venue for the high volume of musical presentations produced by the music department. You will hear small ensembles and soloists presented by the department as well as the Mondavi Center.
Located next to the Music Building, the facility will feature four new teaching studios, a recording suite, an ethnomusicology studio, artist and audience amenities, an outdoor “Noda Family Courtyard” and production and staff space.
Long planned on the UC Davis campus to support a vibrant music program, the recital hall will offer a mid-size performance space with a seating capacity between the Mondavi Center’s Jackson Hall, which provides up to 1,800 seats, and its 200-seat Studio Theatre.
