Each year, the UC Davis and UC Davis Health community gathers for a Remembrance Ceremony to pause, reflect and honor colleagues, friends and community members who have passed away over the past year. The ceremony offers an opportunity to come together to remember their lives, contributions and impact on our university community.

AT A GLANCE

  • WHAT: UC Davis Remembrance Ceremony, honoring those who have died since June 1
  • WHO: UC Davis and UC Davis Health
  • WHEN: Noon on Monday, May 11
  • WHERE: UC Davis Conference Center
  • RSVP: Online

The third annual Remembrance Ceremony will be held May 11 at the UC Davis Conference Center. Open to all, it offers a shared space for reflection, connection and remembrance.

The program includes remarks from Chancellor Gary S. May, musical performances and a reading of names, recognizing each individual and their connection to UC Davis and UC Davis Health.

For a full list of names included in the reading, along with additional event details and registration information, visit the Remembrance Ceremony webpage. While registration is not required, guests are encouraged to sign up in advance to assist with planning.

Following the program, Aggie Mental Health Ambassadors will host a ribbon activity, providing a quiet, personal way for attendees to remember and honor members of the community who have passed. Participants are invited to write a name or message on a ribbon and tie it along a designated space, creating a visible and collective expression of remembrance. First introduced in 2023, the activity has become an ongoing tradition, with ribbons added each year.

Attendees may also choose to walk the Davis Reflection Route (No. 7 on the list) as another way to reflect.
