African American Family Week Marks 25th Year

The 25th annual African American Family Week, celebrating African American history and culture, will be held May 15-19 on the Davis campus. Highlights of the week's activities include gospel singing, African American storytelling, a cultural fair and a college motivational program. The festival also features lectures by physicians Billie Jean Pace and Denese O. Shervington on "Lifestyle Enhancement from an Afrocentric Perspective"; by Askia Muhammad Abdulmajeed, assistant deputy director, State of California Alcohol and Drug Programs, on "Islam and African Americans"; and by Queen Afua, founder and director of a New York natural living and education center, on "Healing Thyself."
