The 23rd annual African American Family Week, celebrating African American history and culture, will be held Monday-Saturday, May 10-15, on the Davis campus. Highlights of the week's activities include a lecture by poet and author Maya Angelou, a synchronized stepping competition, gospel singing, an art display, cultural fair, Tuskegee Airmen panel presentation and exhibit, dramatic art performances, a college motivational program and lectures by UC Berkeley Professor Troy Duster on "Understanding Self-Segregation on Campus" and by former Black Panther Party Chief of Staff David Hillard.
