The 24th annual African American Family Week, celebrating African American history and culture, will be held May 9-13 on the Davis campus. Highlights of the week's activities include gospel singing, an art display, cultural fair, dance presentation and college motivational program. The festival also features lectures by Georgia State University professor Asa Hilliard III on "Africa: Origins of World Civilization," by metaphysicist Carmen Stephine Mays on "The Word 'Nigger': a Metaphysical Analysis" and by anthropologist and choreographer Pearl Primus on African American dance.
