Ag Competitions Test High School Students' Skills

WHAT: About 2,000 high school students from throughout California will test their expertise in a variety of agricultural competitions during the 18th annual Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Field Day. Representing Future Farmers of America and 4-H groups, the students will demonstrate skills ranging from farming and ranching to food processing and banking. WHEN: Friday and Saturday, March 4-5 WHERE: UC Davis (See visuals and attached map for locations) VISUALS: Friday Job Interview Contest -- students will test their job application and interview skills from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Buehler Alumni and Visitors Center. Parliamentary Procedures Finals -- a lively demonstration of students' ability to conduct formal meetings will be held in Memorial Union II at 7:15 p.m. Saturday (9 to 11 a.m.) Livestock, Meats and Horse Judging -- Cole Animal Facility Tractor Obstacle Course -- Lot 47 on La Rue Road Agri-Science Fair (10 a.m. to noon) -- Freeborn Hall Ag Sales and Farm Records Judging -- Olson Hall Dairy Foods Judging -- Cruess Hall Vegetable Crops and Agronomy Judging -- Hunt Hall Forestry Skills Competition -- Behind the Art Building Small-Engine Repair Competition -- Bainer Hall Flower and Ornamental Horticulture Contest -- Environmental Horticulture Building Dairy and Poultry Judging -- Animal Science Teaching Facility at north end of the Dairy Cattle Facility
