Agricultural lending and borrowing in California is the focus of a Dec. 1 conference in Sacramento. Called "Financing Agriculture in California's New Risk Environment," the daylong conference at the Capitol Plaza Holiday Inn is sponsored by the UC Davis-based Agricultural Issues Center and the Giannini Foundation of Agricultural Economics. Reports will cover borrower demand for agricultural credit, trends in the lending sector, the relationship between risk and credit, and the role of public policy in agricultural credit markets. The keynote address, "Agricultural Restructuring in the 1990s: A Global Opportunity," will be given by Eric P. Thor, director of the School of Agribusiness and Environmental Resources at Arizona State University.
