Faculty members and a graduate student from the UC Davis Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics recently returned with a number of honors from the annual conference of the American Agricultural Economics Association. Professor James Wilen was honored three times. He received the 3,000-member association's national award for his distinguished graduate teaching. In addition, an article he co-wrote, "A Model of Regulated Open Access Resource Use" for the Journal of Environmental Economics and Management, was honored for the quality of its research discovery and received an honorable mention for outstanding published research. The department chair, Professor Colin Carter, was honored for his distinguished policy contribution to the profession. In addition, UC Davis brought home the award for outstanding doctoral dissertation by Nicholas Piggott on "The Benefits and Costs of Generic Advertising of Agricultural Commodities."
