Anna Maria Busse Berger

-- Anna Maria Busse Berger, a UC Davis professor of music, is one of 175 scholars selected to receive a 2001 National Endowment for the Humanities Research Fellowship. Winners were selected on a competitive basis and judged on the quality and significance of proposed projects. Busse Berger will use the award to study the written and oral traditions in 13th-century music, trying to establish what influence memory could have had on the composition and transmission of polyphonic music.
