Indian nations from throughout the United States will celebrate their culture through song and dance during the 23rd annual Native American Cultural Days powwow April 9-11 on the UC Davis campus.
The three-day event begins on Friday, April 9, and runs all weekend at Recreation Hall. The program, sponsored by Native American students, includes arts and crafts, dancing and traditional American Indian food. The weekend powwow is a re-enactment of certain spiritual and emotional aspects of Indian humanity, according to Christina Kirk, chair of Native American Cultural Days.
"Every song, gesture and detail of the ornate clothing illustrates a part of Indian heritage as a people with roots in the past."
