Exhibit Title: "Reticules, Bags and Purses: From the Collection of Karen Katinas" Dates: Feb. 28 to March 25 Where: Design Gallery Room 145, Walker Hall University of California, Davis Hours: Noon to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 2 to 5 p.m. Sundays, (Closed holidays) Reception: 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 27 Artist: Karen Katinas, graphic designer "Reticules, Bags and Purses: From the Collection of Karen Katinas" is an exhibition of more than 100 antique and historical purses collected during a 15-year-period by a Washington graphic designer. The collection contains such items as a 19th century beaded, miniature purse, an 1833 reticule and a Native American souvenir bag. Katinas says that as a designer, she is fascinated by the variety of materials, shapes and colors used by "different people at different times to answer the same problem -- how to hold personal items." The exhibition is free and open to the public.
