The Memorial Union Art Gallery will open its new year with "Art with/out Frontiers," the paper and ceramic sculpture works of Native American artists Rick Bartow and Lillian Pitt of Oregon, and Maori artist John Bevan Ford of New Zealand. Each of these established artists has produced a body of work that addresses individual concerns within indigenous cultural traditions.
Co-sponsored by the Pacific Bridges Project and the critical theory program at UC Davis, "Art with/out Frontiers" is presented in conjunction with an upcoming international conference, "Rewriting the Pacific: Cultures, Frontiers, and the Migration of Metaphors," to be held at UC Davis and UC Berkeley from Oct. 19 to 22.
The Memorial Union gallery is wheelchair accessible. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
