Lectures, music, performances and a cultural fair are among the free events open to the public April 22-27 during the annual Asian Pacific Cultural Week at the University of California, Davis.
This year's theme is "Unity Among Diversity." Highlights surrounding the event include:
• "Eth-Noh-Tec," a performance and interactive workshop on Asian American dance, music and storytelling by UC Davis alumnus Robert Kikuchi-Yngojo.
7 p.m. Monday, April 22, MUII in the Memorial Union
• "I'm on a Mission From Buddha," a one-man performance by Lane Nishikawa.
7 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, Main Theatre
• Poetry reading with Bei Dao, visiting professor and Nobel Prize finalist.
Noon Thursday, April 25, MUII in the Memorial Union
• Undermine, a Filipino alternative rap group from the San Francisco Bay Area.
Noon Friday, April 26, on the Quad
• Culture Night, dance and musical performances will be featured during an evening cultural presentation by student groups.
7 p.m. Friday, April 26, Freeborn Hall
• Asian Pacific Cultural Faire, a daylong festival featuring ethnic foods, colorful dances and music, as well as games and crafts for children and performances by regional groups.
10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 27, in Freeborn Hall and on the nearby plaza
