Back to School for UC Davis Students

WHAT: The transition to college life begins for thousands of students on Sunday, Sept. 26, when families help their children move into residence halls at the University of California, Davis. More than 22,000 students will begin the fall quarter with the first day of class Thursday, Sept. 30. During the first week students will be purchasing books and supplies from the campus bookstore as well as meeting faculty advisers and checking on financial aid opportunities. WHEN: Sunday, Sept. 26 11 a.m. (move-ins begin at 11 a.m. and continue through the afternoon) WHERE: High-rise residence halls; Intersection of California Avenue and Regan Hall Drive; North end of campus VISUALS: Students and parents unloading clothing, bicycles, computers and other personal items as students move into dormitories. Tearful goodbyes, hugs and meeting new roommates will be part of the first-day activities. A barbecue for all new students is planned outside near the housing complex beginning at 3:30 p.m. DIRECTIONS: From Sacramento, take Interstate 80 to the Highway 113 exit and head north to Woodland. Turn right after taking the Russell Boulevard exit and drive east to California Avenue. Right on California Avenue and right on Regan Hall Drive.
