Berman Included in PBS Program on Lyndon Johnson

Larry Berman, professor and chair of the political science department at the University of California, Davis, will be part of a national television documentary examining the life of former President Lyndon Johnson on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1. The program, titled "LBJ," is part of the Public Broadcasting System series The American Experience. The program will be broadcast from 9 to 11 p.m. both days on KVIE Channel 6, the Sacramento affiliate of PBS. Berman is the author of "Lyndon Johnson's War: The Road to Stalemate in Vietnam" (1989) and "Planning a Tragedy: The Americanization of the War in Vietnam" (1982). The books detail Johnson's role in involving the United States in the Vietnam War and his efforts to mislead the American public about the true direction of the war.
