In one of the biggest bicycle auctions around, UC Davis willliberate more than 300 unclaimed bikes on Saturday, Oct. 11.Bicycles of many sizes, types and conditions will beavailable for sale, along with unclaimed lost-and-found itemsthat include tape recorders, jewelry, watches, clothing,books and calculators.The bikes, retrieved by campus police after being stolen orlost, are collected during the spring and summer months. Thefunds raised from the sale help support the campus bicycleprogram. Bidding gets under way at 9 a.m. and it lasts untilall items are sold. The auction takes place behind the UCDavis Fire and Police Building on Kleiber Hall Drive,southeast of Recreation Hall.UC Davis is well-known among biking enthusiasts as a placewhere bicycles reign supreme. In a single day, as many as15,000 to 18,000 bicyclists may travel along UC Davis paths.
