A bicycle auction on Saturday, Oct. 10, kicks off a new weeklong event called "Cyclebration '92" that will salute the bicycle and its prominence at UC Davis and in the town of Davis. Highlights of the week include moonlight rides, a contest for ugly and unusual bikes, and a bicycle polo match. This event is the first of what will be an annual celebration of bicycles, jointly organized by the city of Davis and UC Davis. Organizers say Cyclebration will reaffirm Davis' reputation as the "bicycle capital of the United States" and promote the safe, practical and fun use of bicycles for transportation, recreation and fitness.
