-- Bob Sommer, UC Davis professor of psychology, received an honorary doctorate from the Tallinn Pedagogical University in Estonia. The honor was in recognition of Sommer's research and writing in environmental psychology. Sommer and his wife, Barbara, taught at the university on a Fulbright in 1989. They were the only American couple living in the Soviet state that year -- which also marked the historic dismantling of the Berlin Wall.
