A new and improved three-dimensional bobsled simulator, believed to be the only one in the world, will be tested this weekend at the University of California, Davis, by drivers for the U.S. bobsled team training for this winter's Olympics. The high-tech training tool, developed by UC Davis engineers, allows drivers to practice on a virtual version of the course bobsleds will run at the Olympic Games in Lillehammer, Norway. Reporters are invited to the campus sports biomechanical engineering laboratory 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 20, for a demonstration of the simulator and an opportunity to talk to driver Tuffy Latour. In addition, reporters can run the Olympic course and interview the engineering staff that designed the system. The laboratory is located in Room 2334 of the Academic Surge Building. Take the UC Davis exit off of Interstate 80 and proceed north on Old Davis Road. Stop at the information kiosk on Old Davis Road and get specific directions to the building, which is located at the southern end of campus. Recommended parking is in lot 46.
