Grady Webster, professor emeritus of plant biology at UC Davis, was awarded the Engler Medal in recognition of the outstanding quality of his synopsis of the genera and suprageneric taxa of Euphorbiaceae, published in the Annals of the Missouri Botanical Garden in 1994. The prestigious award is offered by the International Association for Plant Taxonomy to the author or authors of the single most outstanding work published in the field of botanical systematics in any single year.
