Environmental issues in California will be the subject of the "Environment and Society" symposium to be held Thursday, May 26, at UC Davis. Sponsored by UC Davis and the UC Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources, the symposium will bring together state and federal agriculture and natural resource officials, academics and business leaders with an interest in future environmental policies. Speakers who will make presentations during the symposium include Douglas Wheeler, California secretary of resources; Richard Rominger, deputy secretary of agriculture in the U.S. Department of Agriculture; M.R.C. Greenwood, associate director for science with the U.S. Office of Science and Technology; Pam Marrone, president of Novo Nordisk Entotech in Davis, Calif.; and Fumio Matsumura, director of the UC Davis Center for Environmental Health Sciences. Former UC Davis Chancellor Ted Hullar will give closing comments for the symposium, which is being held in part to recognize his contributions to environmental public-policy issues.
