Artists: California Indian Basketweavers Association members
Baskets from the California Indian Basketweavers Association's annual showcase along with baskets from the C.N. Gorman Museum's collection will be on display. The exhibition also will include photography from the association's annual gatherings held throughout California. Photographers are Dugan Aguilar, of Elk Grove; Janet Caron-Owens, of Sonora; Judith Lowry, of Nevada City; Hank Meals, of Nevada City; and Michelle Vignes, of San Francisco. The Gorman Museum has been working with a curatorial planning committee of local association members and UC Davis students, staff and faculty including Cassandra Hensher, Michelle LeBeau, Annette Reed-Crum, Jacquelyn Ross and Kathy Wallace.
Public events will be scheduled during the exhibition period. Please call the museum for more information about these. The reception is free and open to the public.
The exhibition is supported by the Native American studies department, California Indian Basketweavers Association, California Arts Council and the UC Davis Women's Resources and Research Center.
The C. N. Gorman Museum is part of the Native American Studies Department and is dedicated to Native American artists and diverse artists whose works address cultural, social and political issues of the Americas.
