Steven Crum, UC Davis associate professor of Native American studies, has received the Distinguished Indian Educator of the Year award from the California Indian Education Association. Crum, a historian, was cited for his community service on many Indian boards and committees. Also, his research on Western Indian history was recognized for its valuable assistance to tribal governments on issues of sovereignty, policy and laws.
