The pre-eminent living scholar on the life and work of author Willa Cather, UC Davis English professor emeritus Jim Woodress, was honored this summer by Cather's alma mater, the University of Nebraska, with an honorary Doctor of Letters degree. Woodress wrote two definitive Cather biographies, "Willa Cather: Her Life and Art" and "Willa Cather: A Literary Life."
