Wilma Mankiller, principal chief of the Cherokee Nation, will talk about community development and health care Friday, Oct. 22, at UC Davis. Her key address, "Building Community," will focus on her involvement in community improvement, focusing on health, housing and business in her role as chief of one of the largest U.S. tribes. She will speak at noon in Freeborn Hall, and earlier in the day at the UC Davis Medical Center. Both presentations are free and open to the public. Her visit is being hosted by the UC Davis Staff of American Indian Descent.
