Louise Ferguson, an extension specialist in pomology at the University of California, Davis, was granted an honorary professorship by Gansu Institute of Biology in the city of Lanzhou in north central China. The professorship recognizes her efforts toward cooperative pistachio research with members of the academy and her efforts in establishing research ties between other UC agricultural scientists and Gansu Academy members.
