Participants will learn innovative teaching strategies, unique lab experiments and how to use distance-learning technologies. The workshop is co-sponsored by the UC Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education Program, currently housed at UC Davis, and the CSU Chico College of Agriculture.
When: 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, March 26
8:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 27
12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 27 -- tour
Where: Kendall Hall, California State University, Chico
Background: "We're seeing more sustainable agriculture educators making the connections between their subject, the environment and other issues that are of increasing interest to students," says David Chaney, education coordinator for the UC sustainable agriculture program. "We hope the workshop will provide these instructors with the opportunity to meet with colleagues to share ideas, resources and teaching tools that are being used successfully in the field and classroom."
