Jim Quinn -- UC Davis professor of environmental studies and director of the UC Davis Information Center for the Environment, (916) 752-8027, jfquinn@ucdavis.edu.Trained as a marine biologist and community ecologist, Quinn works primarily on biodiversity issues, such as identifying important areas for conservation. He has found that smaller parks and reserves contain most of the species found in national parks and conservation lands. Quinn and his UC Davis colleagues at the Center for Ecological Health Research have amassed one of the most comprehensive biodiversity databases in California aimed at providing scientific information for environmental decision makers.
