Conference Aims to Improve Rural Emergency Med Care

In rural California, where people and financial resources are scarce, getting an ambulance to the scene of a wreck or another tragedy within the first critical hour can be difficult. Improvements in the delivery of emergency medical service in rural areas can be made, however, with a concept that has worked well in other situations -- cooperatives. Finding cooperative solutions to rural emergency medical services will be the focus of a conference Friday, June 25, at the Red Lion Hotel in Sacramento. The conference, cosponsored by the UC Davis-based Center for Cooperatives and the UC Davis School of Medicine, gets under way at 8:30 a.m. and will run until about 4 p.m.
