Convocation speakers to discuss race, campus in future

UC Davis will kick off the new school year with fall convocation ceremonies in Freeborn Hall at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 29. During the annual campus tradition, John O. Stewart, professor of African American and African Studies, will speak on "Academic Leadership and the Issue of Race." Chancellor Larry Vanderhoef will deliver an address titled "The Year: 2008, The Place: UC Davis." Drawing together students, faculty and staff, the event will feature music by members of the California Aggie Marching Band. A reception will immediately follow on the Freeborn Patio.
