Deanne Vochatzer, head coach of women's track and field at UC Davis, has been named head coach of the 1996 United States Olympic Team for women's track and field. She will direct the U.S. team at the Olympics to be held in Atlanta, Ga. Vochatzer, in her second season as head coach of the Aggie women's track and field team, was the head coach of the U.S. team at the World University Games, held in Buffalo, N.Y., last summer. The U.S. team earned a record number of medals at that event, despite difficult conditions and 100-degree heat. Her international experience also includes a position as the alternate head coach for the women's team in the 1992 Olympics. She has also served as the women's coordinator for the United States Olympic Festival.
