-- A recent ranking places economics at UC Davis 19th of 150 ranked programs. The rankings, which appear in a recent article in the Journal of Applied Econometrics ("Applied Econometrics Rankings: 1989-1995" by Badi Baltagi), were based on the publications of 5,991 authors in 15 top journals that publish applied econometric research. UC Davis ranked ahead of Columbia (20th), nine places ahead of UCLA (29th) and just two places below UC Berkeley (17th). As well as ranking programs, the top 150 applied econometricians were also ranked. Although credited to Tufts, her former university, Catherine Morrison of the UC Davis Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics ranked 11th. Robert Feenstra (30th) and Kevin Hoover (38th) of the Department of Economics were also highly ranked. Top producers in particular journals were also ranked. Hoover ranked second for publications in the Journal of Monetary Economics.
