John Boe, a lecturer in English at UC Davis, has been awarded first prize in the informal essays section of the 1991 Roberts Writing Awards of the H.G. Roberts Foundation for his essay "Messiness Is Next to Goddessness." His entry will be published in the 1991 Roberts Writing Awards Annual. Winning entries were selected from among 3,000 poems, 600 short stories and 175 informal essays.
