Entries are being sought for an international juried exhibition of masks to be held May 15-June 9, 1995, at the Design Gallery at the University of California, Davis.
The exhibition is a biannual competition sponsored by the Design Alliance, a group that works to generate private support and resources for the gallery.
Titled "Face the Nation," the exhibition will feature masks selected by Victoria Rivers, a professor of textile arts and costume design at UC Davis; John Natsoulas, director of the John Natsoulas Gallery in Davis; and Baochi Zhang, assistant professor of art at UC Davis.
The exhibition is open to all artists of all ages. The work entered must have been completed within the past two years and be the entrant's original work. The masks may be made of any medium, but must fit within a maximum size of 24" tall by 24" wide by 24" deep. A $20 entry fee for a maximum of two works will be charged.
Cash prizes of $500, $300 and $100 as well as three honorable mentions will be awarded. Artists also may choose to offer their masks for sale.
Deadline for submitting photographic slides of entries is Feb. 28, 1995.
