Working with postdoctoral researchers, Christina Swanson and Paciencia Young, Cech is in the early stages of investigating the environmental requirements and tolerance limits of delta smelt and splittail, including upper and lower temperature limits, salinity and more. Progress so far has included how to effectively capture delta smelt and bring them safely to the laboratory. Also, they have have measured aspects of delta smelt swimming performance.
