Father Roy Bourgeois, a Maryknoll priest, will discuss "The U.S. School of Americas: Training Terrorists" when he speaks on the University of California, Davis, campus at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 8, in Room 198 of Young Hall.
Bourgeois' talk, sponsored by the UC Davis Immigration Law Clinic, is free and open to the public.
Bourgeois has spent three years in federal prison for acts of civil disobedience, used to focus public attention on the School of Americas located at Fort Benning, Ga. According to Bourgeois, the school has trained more than 56,000 military leaders from Central and South America since 1946, including Manuel Noriega, the Panama general now serving a U.S. federal prison sentence for drug running.
Bourgeois directs the SOA Watch near Fort Benning, Ga., which is dedicated to informing the public about the School of Americas.
