Fazio to Discuss Impact of Federal Budget Balancing on University Funding

U.S. Representative Vic Fazio, D-West Sacramento, will discuss "Balancing the Federal Budget and the Fate of the U.S. University" Tuesday, May 30, from 3 to 4 p.m. in MU II of the Memorial Union Building at the University of California, Davis. Fazio's visit is sponsored by the Davis chapter of the Sigma Xi scientific research honor society and by the UC Davis Office of the Chancellor. "Although the legislation to impose the requirement that the federal budget be balanced failed to pass, it is very clear that there is a strong movement in Congress, and indeed across the country, toward achieving this end," said Chancellor Larry N. Vanderhoef. "Clearly, such initiatives will have significant impact on all aspects of the daily operations of our universities. A timely discussion of this topic would be of great benefit to all." Fazio's talk, followed by a question-and-answer session, is open to the public.
