Films on Robert Arneson to be Shown at Memorial Union Gallery

A video program about the late Robert Arneson, a nationally recognized artist and a University of California, Davis, faculty member, will be shown at noon on selected days during January in the Memorial Union Art Gallery. The program, being shown in conjunction with an ongoing exhibition of Arneson's work, will feature two videos produced by UC Davis in the early 1980s. The 1982 video is titled "Robert Arneson: Images In and Out of Clay" and includes Arneson discussing the development of his career as an artist, as well as rare footage of the artist working in the 1960s. The 1983 video is titled "Artists at Work: Robert Arneson" and shows Arneson drawing and working on a clay self-portrait. Both videos were produced by UC Davis Instructional Media and the Richard L. Nelson Gallery and Fine Arts Collection. Each program will run approximately 30 minutes. The video program will be shown in the gallery at noon on the following dates: Jan. 3, 4, 10, 11 and 18. The exhibition, "Robert Arneson: Portraits of Family and Friends," continues through Jan. 21 at the Memorial Union Art Gallery. The exhibit will be closed from Dec. 24 - Jan. 2. -
