Forum to focus on the future of agricultural colleges

In a nation that is growing away from its agrarian roots, how can agricultural colleges evolve to meet the needs of students and society as a whole? Deans from the agricultural colleges at UC Davis and Cornell University will wrestle with that question during a special forum to be held Friday, Sept. 12, at UC Davis.Deans Barbara Schneeman of the UC Davis College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences and Daryl Lund of Cornell's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences will discuss future directions of the nation's agricultural colleges. Moderator for the forum will be James Meyer, chancellor emeritus of UC Davis, who in recent years has studied extensively the future of agricultural colleges.The event, to be held in the University Club on Old Davis Road, will begin with a 5:30 p.m. reception, followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. and the forum at 7:45 p.m. Media representatives are welcome to attend the forum free of charge. There will be a $30 charge for dinner.
