The four artists in the exhibition produce ceramic sculptures that continue the exploration of figuration, humor and technical innovation. Heidi Bekebrede received her bachelor's degree in art from UC Davis in 1980. Bekebrede exhibits her work frequently throughout the Sacramento area. She is acting president of The Artery, a cooperative gallery in Davis, and is a member of the performance group "Voice of the Wood." Donna Billick received her master's degree in fine arts from UC Davis in 1977. Billick has created numerous public and private ceramic tiled sculptures in Davis and Sacramento, including a recently completed commission for the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento. Billick currently teaches courses at California State University, Hayward. Sally Eidson graduated in art from Brenau College in Gainesville, Ga., in 1973. During the 1980s, Eidson participated in numerous craft shows throughout the Midwest. Eidson came to Davis in 1992 and is the ceramics studio manager at the UC Davis Craft Center. Jean Van Keuren received her master's in art from the University of Rochester in 1966. Van Keuren studied in the early 1980s with Arneson and Manuel Neri and other UC Davis artists. She recently completed a commission to create several life-sized ceramic figures for a courtyard at the Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Rancho Cordova. Van Keuren's work has been included in several exhibitions at the John Natsoulas Gallery in Davis. The reception and exhibition are open to the public; admission is free of charge.
