• American Society of Limnology and Oceanography -- June 11-15, University of Nevada, Reno. Co-sponsored by the UC Davis Lake Tahoe Research Group, this year's annual meeting focuses on extreme conditions in marine and fresh-water environments, including impacts of ultraviolet radiation. • McDonnell Summer Institute in Cognitive Neuroscience -- July 3-14, University of California, Davis. International faculty for the two-week course will lecture on current topics in consciousness and neural representations and will demonstrate techniques for exploring neural circuitry underlying cognitive processes.• International Veterinary Immunology Symposium -- July 16-21, University of California, Davis. About 400 veterinary immunologists from around the world will discuss such topics as responses to infectious diseases and new vaccines for livestock, exotic animals and companion animals.• Pangborn Sensory Science Symposium -- July 30 - Aug. 3, University of California, Davis. Anticipating about 400 scientists, this international meeting will address a broad spectrum of basic and applied research related to topics such as taste, smell and texture.• Ecological Society of America -- July 30 - Aug. 3, Snowbird, Utah. Focusing on the transdisciplinary nature of ecology, this year's annual meeting includes new findings and perspectives on urban ecosystems, plant ecology and evolution, ecosystem processes in rivers and estuaries, ecology and conservation of fragmented tropical forest communities, global change, wetlands, and endangered species report.• Symposium on Nonhuman Primate Models for AIDS -- Nov. 5-8, Monterey, Calif. Hosted by the California Regional Primate Research Center at UC Davis, this annual meeting has become a premier forum for the most recent scientific advances in AIDS research using animal models.
