Gardeners to Queue up for Arboretum Plant Sale

More than 2,000 gardeners, many with wagons and wheelbarrows in tow, are expected to descend on the 25th Annual Plant Faire from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, at the UC Davis Arboretum. Hosted by the Friends of the Davis Arboretum, the sale will feature more than 1,000 different kinds of plants that have been grown in Davis and acclimated to Central Valley. conditions. Many others are drought tolerant. Expert gardeners will be at the sale to provide information on the plants. A complete list of available plants is available at the Arboretum Headquarters or on the Web at . Proceeds from the sale support the UC Davis Arboretum, a 97-acre garden bordering the southern edge of the main campus. Media representatives are invited to interview and photograph arboretum staff and volunteers setting up for the sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1, at the arboretum headquarters on La Rue Road. From Interstate 80, take the UC Davis exit and turn right onto Old Davis Road. Go past the information booth, straight through the first stop sign, across the bridge and immediately turn left onto La Rue Road. The arboretum headquarters is in one of the brown shingled buildings on the left.
