Gloria Steinem to address future for everyone

Noted feminist and writer Gloria Steinem will speak at UC Davis on Thursday, April 9, addressing "A Future in Which Everyone Matters." The talk will begin at 8 p.m. in Recreation Hall. Steinem, who emerged as a leader of the women's movement in the 1960s, is author of "Revolution From Within: A Book of Self-Esteem" and "Moving Beyond Words." She continues to be a consulting editor to MS, the feminist magazine she helped establish in 1972. Founder and president of Voters for Choice, a political action committee that supports pro-choice candidates, she also helped create the National Women's Political Caucus, which works to increase the number of women in elected and appointed office at all levels of government. Steinem has received numerous awards, including the Ceres Medal from the United Nations, for her contributions to journalism and for her work for equality. Her lecture is being sponsored by Student Forums at UC Davis.
