-- The Paul Monette/Roger Horwitz Trust has given its $5,000 Distinguished Achievement Award to UC Davis psychology professor Gregory Herek for his groundbreaking research on prejudice against lesbians and gay men, hate crimes and anti-gay violence, and AIDS-related stigma. Herek is an internationally recognized authority on prejudice and discrimination related to sexual orientation. The trust was established by author Monette before his death from AIDS in 1995 and is named for himself and his partner, Horwitz, who died of AIDS the same year.
