Health Chief to Discuss Health-Care Reform

Bruce C. Vladeck, administrator of the U.S. Health Care Financing Administration, will provide a status report on health-care reform Oct. 5 at UC Davis. Among those joining him in a panel discussion afterward will be James Todd, executive vice president and chief executive officer of the American Medical Association. Visiting the campus as a Regents' Lecturer, Vladeck is a leading participant in the Clinton administration's attempt to reform the nation's health system. He administers more than $214 billion in federal health-care funding annually. The event will be held at 8 p.m. at Freeborn Hall on the Davis campus. Vladeck will meet with the news media during a press conference preceding the lecture at 5:15 p.m. in the Garrision Room at the nearby Memorial Union.
