Bovine bingo, a bonfire, an old-fashioned tug-of-war and a football game highlight this year's homecoming at UC Davis. Students, faculty, staff and alumni will celebrate Oct. 16-21 with a series of events that will also include an alumni awards program, student activities fair and a basketball shoot-out at the Silo. "This annual fall event involves new students in campus activities early in the term, brings alumni and students together, and builds support for the campus sports program," says Lisa Murray, student coordinator of the events. On Monday, Oct. 16, a basketball shoot-out at the Silo for all UC Davis students gets under way at noon. On Tuesday, Oct. 17, bovine bingo is the game of choice on the Quad. A student activities fair highlights the noontime activities on the Quad on Wednesday, Oct. 18. More than 20 student teams have signed up for the tug-of-war contest for Thursday, Oct. 19, at noon on the Quad. Friday, Oct. 20, the Cal Aggie Alumni Association awards ceremony begins at 6 p.m. in the alumni center and will be followed by a bonfire on the Primero Field, near California Avenue and Russell Boulevard, featuring the marching band, spirit squad, football players and coaches. On Saturday, Oct. 21, the football game against Cal State Northridge at 7 p.m. wraps up the week's events.
