James Hill, professor and chair of the UC Davis Department of Agronomy and Range Science, has received the California Weed Science Society's 1998 Award of Excellence. Hill has been involved in the characterization, development and recommendation of virtually every weed-management strategy for rice growers in use in California today. He has also been instrumental in developing approaches for helping rice producers meet requirements of the Rice Straw Burning Reduction Act of 1993.
