The International Organization of Self-Propagating High-Temperature Synthesis has awarded its Medal of Honor to Zuhair Munir, UC Davis professor of chemical engineering and materials science and associate dean for graduate studies in the College of Engineering. Munir was honored for his contributions to the field of combustion synthesis, particularly the use of electric fields in synthesis processes, for which he holds seven U.S. patents.
