Suad Joseph, UC Davis professor of anthropology and women's studies, was elected secretary of the Lebanese Studies Association this spring. In addition, the UC Humanities Research Institute at Irvine has awarded her a residency in Gender and Citizenship in Muslim Communities for January through June 1999.
