Mel George, Cooperative Extension range and pasture specialist at UC Davis, received an Outstanding Achievement Award from the Society for Range Management at its 1996 annual meeting. The international society is made up of range land managers, scientists and educators. George was recognized for his leadership in range management education in California, nationally and internationally. The citation specifically cited his extension programs to improve grazing and ranch management while conserving range land resources.
